The Baxter’s ministry today
From the founding of the church of the Good Shepherd in 1991 Robert and Kathryn have continued to serve as senior pastors. The church building is located on the north rim of the city of Paris and at the beginning of the year 2011 counts about 350 members. Their church participates regularly in various city-wide initiatives such as the March for Jesus, The Call, Paris on Fire (a regular worship event), EQUIP (a leadership training program created by John Maxwell) and other such events, seminars and conferences.
They have also assisted in one form or another in the establishing of more than ten churches in France and have assisted numerous churches throughout Western Europe, the Caribbean and Africa. Their work outside of the local church consists more and more of consulting other church leaders in training and in church planting.
The Baxters were one of four couples which established a network of churches in 1999. Today the Horizon Family of Churches has associated churches and ministries in the US, Ireland, England, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Kosovo, South Africa and Mongolia. Robert serves today as the senior international director.
The Baxters also established a two-year discipleship school in 2001 and have successfully graduated more than 100 students since then. They also founded a worship school in 2005 and a school for pastoral training in 2009.
Their future plans call for the establishing of a Christian primary school in the fall of 2011 and a school of evangelism in 2013. They also hope to establish a language school and a school of foreign missions.
Robert and Kathryn are frequent guest speakers in various conferences and seminars. Kathryn is a renowned worship leader and composer in the nation. Robert has written three books thus far and is also regarded as an expert in the history of revivals in France.
